Minibus Hire

Our 15 seat, wheelchair accessible Ring & Ride bus is available for hire to groups within the community.

Groups can be loosely defined and do not need to be formally constituted.

Groups need register, free of charge, with Devon County Council, from whom we lease the bus.

Please ask us for a registration form, and we will help you through the straight forward process.

Booking Arrangements

Fuel
The bus will be supplied full of fuel, and you will return it without refueling it, unless otherwise arranged with us.

Bus Condition
The bus will be supplied to you in a clean and roadworthy condition, and we require that it is returned in the same condition, with any defects reported to us.

Undue Wear & tear
The Community group will be liable for any undue wear & tear to the vehicle.

Breakdowns
In the unlikely event of a breakdown, there are emergency numbers on the bus.

Drivers
All drivers of the bus must be pre-approved by Devon County Council. We normally supply the bus with a driver. During normal working hours in the week this will be a paid driver, and at weekends and in the evenings it will be a volunteer driver.

Insurance
Devon County Council insurance is included, but in the event of an accident, the community group will be liable for the excess charge of £100.

Operating Licence
This is not as scary as it sounds: if you will be making any sort of charge to those that will be using the bus on the hire, even an indirect charge, such as a membership fee, then you require a Section 19 licence from VOSA. This is only £10 and is valid indefinitely for your organisation. We have copies of the simple application form and will help you through the straightforward process.

Payment
Torridge Community Transport Association will invoice your group on completion of your hire.

Booking Fee;	£10
Mileage;	40p / mile Including fuel
Bus Hire;	£5.50 / hr up to a maximum of £44 / day, with a minimum charge of 2 hours.
